Your child’s messages are read and summarized on your Mac, by your Mac. They never leave it. We could not hand them over, leak them, or read them ourselves — we never have them.
What stays on your Mac — always
- Every message, image, and conversation Nightlight reads.
- The AI model that reads them, and everything it writes about them.
- The daily brief itself is composed on the Mac and emailed from it.
What our servers hold
- Account: your email address and sign-in records.
- Billing: subscription status via Stripe. Card numbers live with Stripe, not us.
- App health: version numbers and “last ran successfully” signals so we can help when something breaks.
- Family metadata, if you enable sync: child first name and age, digest schedule, recipient addresses — settings, never content.
What we will never build
- Any server endpoint that accepts message content. It does not exist, so it cannot be misused.
- Advertising, data sale, or sharing of any kind. Our only revenue is your subscription.
Your child’s dignity
Nightlight is built to be used openly, with your child’s knowledge. You see a summary written for a parent, not a transcript of a private life. Setup includes a family agreement to have that conversation honestly.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling Nightlight removes everything from the Mac. Deleting your account removes everything we hold within 30 days. There is no other copy.
